Who we are

The Christopher Kolade Centre for Research in Leadership and Ethics (CKCRLE) was launched in October 2013 with a singular objective: to positively shape the Nigerian and African environment through pioneering research in leadership and ethics. At CKCRLE, we align our efforts with the core mission of Lagos Business School: developing leaders with high professional and ethical standards and a strong spirit of service to the community.

Our mission

To create knowledge and provide research that will influence the teaching and practice of leadership and ethics in Africa, in line with the overall mission of the Lagos Business School.

Our vision

To become one of the world’s foremost research centres, creating and sharing knowledge that improves the way managers lead and live.

Our Purpose

CKCRLE usually organise five programmes focused on leadership and ethics in a year – one (1). It is intended that CKCRLE and LBS faculty members in various Departments can generate programme ideas which revolve around ethics and leadership and the core issues in HR, Operations, Supply Chain, Economics, Marketing and Finance.

One of the major concerns of the 21st century is leadership. Leaders, possessing disproportionate control over people, policies, and resources, can steer societies toward cooperation, justice, inspiration, and prosperity. Conversely, their actions can breed conflict, tyranny, dejection, and poverty. The annals of history are marked by ruthless leaders whose self-interest brought economic and humanitarian suffering.

At CKCRLE, we recognize the profound impact leaders have, not only within corporate organizations but also in the public sector and government. By understanding the nuanced processes that lead to a more ethical and socially responsible exercise of power, we aim to foster morally upright and optimally functional organizations, industries, and societies.

Publication/Engagements

CKCRLE disseminates knowledge in the areas of leadership and ethics through newspaper publications and collaborations with LBS faculty members. In this collaboration, it is anticipated that Faculty members and the CKCRLE can also work together on articles related to the interaction of ethics and/or leadership with critical issues in common areas of interest. This will include identifying thematic issues, generating and developing articles, as well as publishing them in newspapers/newsletters. In addition, the Centre is also interested in collaborations for case studies that would improve teaching and learning processes in the Lagos Business School.

To facilitate cutting-edge and innovative research projects focusing on leadership and ethics, the CKCRLE collaborates closely with LBS faculty members in generating research ideas and seeking research grants to facilitate the actualization/development and dissemination of these research. The Centre also leverages on the experience and expertise of our faculty to accelerate the process of securing grants.

Join us on this enlightening journey, where knowledge meets impact, and together, we redefine the landscape of leadership and ethics in Africa.
